Lincoln Park No. 1 (2010)
Lincoln Park No. 2 (2010)
Lincoln Park No. 3 (2010)
30″ x 40″ cibachrome prints, electronics, headphones. First exhibited at the David Winton Bell Gallery, List Art Center, Brown University, as part of the Faculty Triennial.
These works are the first in a series of sonic photographs exploring site, sound, and the razor’s edge between perception and memory. Lincoln Park is an abandoned amusement park near New Bedford, Massachusetts. Photographs and field recordings were made from climbing the derelict roller coaster, the Comet.
Large digital cibachrome prints were mounted and prepared with electronics and headphones that plug into the surface of the photograph itself, allowing the viewer to hear soundtracks made from bits of music, imaginary narratives, and field recordings of the site.
Postscript: as of July 2012, the rollercoaster is reported to have been demolished.
