When I was asked to write a piece for Clogs (who meld avant-rock and classical musics), I had just moved (back) to New York City, and found myself captivated by the constant, but just ‘off’ rhythms of the subway trains on the tracks. IRT uses this rhythm as a starting point, then drifts off into the imagination.
