For amateur walkers, listeners and singers. Commissioned by the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. Approximately one hour.

In August 2010, I was asked by the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts to develop a sound walk through their grounds. Caramoor is a fascinating spot, the legacy of Walter and Lucie Rosen, with more than a hundred acres of formal gardens, fountains, courtyards, pavilions, hidden sculptures, a large theater, and a mansion filled with European art treasures of the past seven hundred years, including the gold bed of Pope Urban VIII.

The walk included listening exercises, a collaborative sound-making experiment in the resonance of the Italian Pavilion, and a soundtrack (my piece, “wood spell”) hidden under a pile of leaves in a mysterious corner of the grounds.
